Almost September!

pink flowerGosh I can’t WAIT for spring time. Spring is probably my favourite time of the year. I can’t wait to wear sleeveless shirts, and cotton again. I’m so sick and tired of wool… Jerseys & scarfs… In the beginning of the winter I’m still okay with curling up in bed, and reading a nice book while sipping on some hot chocolate – but I think that’s just because of the novelty of it. I LOVE summertime. The heat. The sunshine. Spending time outside. Sunbathing. Going on holiday to the beach. The smell of suntan oil. I miss that so much!! :( Some people complain about the heat, but I love it. (As long as you have a good air-conditioner where you work!)

Though lately the sun has become a bit dangerous… I got a factor 60 sunblock, so as you can imagine I’m paler than Snow-White. I have a natural fair skin, and with the little bit of time I spend in the sun, I tend to get paler and paler. Though I suppose that is not a bad thing if you look at all the skin problems that older people have. In South Africa that is. I know more than one person with skin cancer that has to go for regular check ups, and even small operations to have moles and bad patches removed. Scary isn’t it?

If you’re planning to spend alot of time in the sun, or even just a morning, I suggest that you get yourself sunblock. I’m sure the sun will be out soon, and I don’t want to end up with spots – or even more freckles than I already have!

But with all the con’s mentioned, I still can’t wait for the smell of spring.  The fresh blossoms, and the warm nights.  I went summer shopping today, and they have SUCH nice things in the shops :)   Can’t wait to wear it all :D

When I Was Little

HappyWhen I was little things always seemed bigger and better and fancier than what they are now. I can remember the first time I revisited the pre-school that I went to – I was so surprised to find that the biggest jungle gym was hardly 2 meters high. Also, I went to the show (sort of like a carnival) of my hometown, which was always a great event – and I was so disappointed, and actually terrified with the rusty rides in the amusement area. Everything seemed to have deteriorated since I was little. Things are just less colourful, less clean, and less wonderful. The other day I was driving through Johannesburg city, and it was just such an awful sight. Like poverty and pollution has taken over.

I wish I could see the world through the eyes of a child again. Just once more relive the incredible excitement of going to a flee-market – or even to the mall, just so I can go and look at new toys – or just for the event even. I wonder if our country has been like this all along, or has it deteriorated? Maybe its NOT my perspective – my cynicism that’s shading my view with dirt and rust and murder. I still wish that I could once be a child. Carefree and happy. I am happy – make no mistake. But not the kind of happiness that has no boundries like when you’re a child. I miss that.

Get Busy Living Or Get Busy Dying

This bit of words are not included as part of the lyrics of Get Busy Living Or Get Busy Dying but still it is ‘read out’ at the end of the song. Sad it is really. But I found it interesting somehow. I can still remember when I felt like this. And its not nice. I still LOVE this song, and LOVE Fall Out Boy!!

Fall Out Boy

“From day one I talked about getting out

But not forgetting about

How my worst fears are letting out

He said why put a new address

On the same old loneliness

When breathing just passes the time

Until we all just get old and die

Now talking’s just a waste of breath

And living’s just a waste of death

And why put a new address

On the same old loneliness

And this is you and me

And me and you

Until we’ve got nothing left.”

CoffeeCup

The image “http://www.coffeecup.com/images/coffeecup-logo-small.png” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.I came across CoffeeCup, and not only was I impressed with their easy navigable site, but also REALLY COOL SOFTWARE!!!

Maybe its just me, but with most freeware sites I am usually disappointed. The stuff either doesn’t do what I expected, or I can’t even download it. Other times it gives you a whole big bunch of adverts and stuff that I really don’t want. CoffeeCup offers you freeware (including web templates & fonts), and some software that you can buy – if you like it enough after the trial.

They have a whole list of handy gadgets that will help you build your own site with cool features in no time.

Their first programme – an HTML editor – is available, as well as FTP & Web Design & Flash software.
I’ve used the “CoffeeCup Web Calendar“, which is a flash calendar that you can use on your website or blog. You select the colours for you calendar, and you can add some events, so that you can share whatever you are planning with your blog visitors.

The CoffeeCup Flash Calendar:

The CoffeeCup Flash Calendar

CoffeeCup has a whole range of web design tools that can help you to get anything from web templates right through to a chatroom on your site!!

I’ve also used a lot of fonts from there, and they are really cool – make sure to look under “Famous Fonts” – below are a couple of samples of what you’ll find there, but there are plenty more!!

Some samples from CoffeeCup’s “Famous Fonts”:

I would’ve posted some examples here of how the calendar & flash menu’s work, but like the other ‘wordpressers’ know, they don’t allow scripts on here, so if you want to see more screenshots, CoffeeCup also has some that might help you decide what you need. :P
