Heat Wave In South Africa?

According to Mitchell Brown a heat wave is “a period of time which consists of more than three days of maximum temperatures at or above 32° C”, which means that we’re not in the middle of a heat wave at the moment, as the temperature is just below, at 31° for today, and the couple of days ahead. But the ice cream van below tells a different story… What a calamity, isn’t it?

Ice Cream Van Tragedy

This is such a funny pic!! :D
Reminds me of the horrid tune that the ice cream van plays as its driving through our neighborhood…
I once heard a lady confess that she’d told her children when the van plays thát tune, it means all the ice cream is sold out. Clever hey? LOL!!!

By the way, is it just in South Africa that they play thát tune?

Sweet Stats

Heart CandyIsn’t it nice when you log into your blog account, and your stats have gone through the roof?
When you open your e-mails, and you have a load of comments on your latest post. It makes me feel so… appreciated? Like what I’ve written really meant something to someone. Made them laugh, think, or just felt that they could relate. That I’m not the only crazy fool who sings in the car on my way to work. Simple things like that are amazing. Though I feel appreciated in other ways in my life, this is where I get that warm fuzzy feeling about my own writing. I’m not the best, but I LOVE writing.

I tend write about things that I find interesting, and its been so cool to find people who share these interests. Thank you for you pop-ins, and nice comments.

When I’m out of things to write, its very motivating to know that there are people out there who check on my blog, and I have a responsibility to update it - I know I’m not always great at it, but at least when I do post, I enjoy it :D

Got Nothing Better Than Quotes

Yes, its true, I have nothing more to say but write quotes. Its sad I know :(

I got these quotes in an e-mail a while back, and I found it so funny. Also refer to the ass quote, one of my favourites!!

Here goes with the list for today…

Splat BlueMoney is the root of all wealth.

Splat BlueMonday is the root of all evil.

Splat BlueWhat you call dog with no legs? Don’t matter what you call him, he ain’t gonna come.

Splat BlueFriends come and go, but enemies accumulate

Splat BlueThere are 10 types of people in this world: those who know binary, and those who don’t.

Splat Blue … The average woman would rather have beauty than brains, because the average man can see better than he can think.

Splat BlueTime may be a great healer, but it’s a lousy beautician.

Splat Blue … Two wrongs don’t make a right, but three lefts do.

Splat Blue … Hire a teenager while they still know it all.

Splat BlueTo err is human, to forgive is against company policy.

Splat Blue … If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular?

Splat Blue … Everyone needs to believe in something. I believe I’ll have another chocolate.

Splat Blue … Everyone has photographic memory; some just don’t have the film.

6 Weird Facts [Take 2]

I forgot to tag some bloggers back, so please excuse the republishing of this post… here are the selected 6 :)

Adrian  Kristyn  |  Tom  |  Tracey  |  Slick  |  Yoshi

If you’re one of them, remember to write a post with your 6 weird facts, and then tag 6 other bloggers :)  Please just don’t tag me again - LOL, its against the rules ;)

Tisha tagged me last year with this, and finally I got to post the reply :) So here are my 6 weird facts…

ONE - I don’t read instruction manuals. Instead I’d spend double the time trying to figure it out.
TWO - I hate a lot of desserts. Lemon Meringue, trifle, marshmallow tart, ugh, those things make me wanna puke. I’m not much of a sweet tooth, but give me anything savory, and I’ll devour it NOW.
Six by ~turtlepaloozaTHREE - I buy things that have a nice adverts - not always such a good thing for my budget, but 75% of the time the product is actually quite nice.
FOUR - I never iron my clothes. Its all about the way you hang / fold it ;) FIVE - My natural hair colour is very light brown (close to blonde) - currently its dyed BLACK :P SIX - I lay awake at night, wondering what I’m going to blog about next.

Have a look at Tisha’s 6 weird things

Time to go to bed for me, hope you all had a great weekend!! Good luck for the week ahead, but more so for the Monday ;)
Cheers!

First Undersea Restaurant

This is my next holiday destination :D
Just kidding, but a girl’s gotta dream, right?
Beautiful isn’t it? To explain a bit more, I’m Quoting the Luxist

“Hilton has opened the world’s first undersea restaurant at the Hilton Maldives Resort & Spa Rangali IslandThe restaurant sits over 16 feet down in the Indian Ocean and has 270-degree water views. The restaurant, Ithaa, uses curved acrylic to give diners the sensation of being surrounded by water.

The restaurant can only seat 14 at a time and is reached by descending a spiral staircase. The food is described as contemporary Maldive cuisine equal to restaurants in large cities but with schools of fish swimming over your head it might be easy to ignore the meal.”
Here are some more photo’s if you’re curious

Introducing 2000 Bloggers

This is something I came across on Tisha’s blog. I found it rather cute, and decided to add my own photo too.
Tino came up with this fabulous idea of making a collage of bloggers’ photo’s. You can have your photo added too, with a link to your site! Its free, and the only two conditions he has is that your blog has to have been created before the 1st of January 2007, and that there is a photo of yourself on your blog.

This quite neat, swapping out traffic by clicking pics - same idea as 25peeps, you just don’t get kicked off!! Great isn’t it?

For the complete list of the photo’s, updated today, check my 2000 Bloggers page. If you look really closely you might find me!!

Note that it might take a long time to load if you have a dial-up connection, as it has quite a few images

But here’s a snippet of what it looks like… ( with me enlarged :) )

Creating A Great Monday

Monday Morning

  • Splat Blue … I suggest that you DON’T take Friday too lazily. Make sure you complete all of your tasks for Friday, and try to fit in some of Monday’s tasks if possible.
  • Splat Blue … Over the weekend, preferably Sunday afternoon, scan through your diary for any appointments & meetings. The weekend might have been so relaxing that you forgot about your meeting during which you have to report back on the month’s progress. Don’t be caught off guard with things like that. It could worsen your mood for Monday drastically, and be very embarrassing!
  • Splat Blue … Go to bed early on Sunday night. Get up on time on Monday, have coffee or tea, and breakfast at home. You can’t control things at work, but you can at least start your day right at home.
  • Splat Blue … Arrange to meet a friend for lunch - its always something to look forward to :)
  • Splat Blue … If you struggle to be excited about work, get some personal things for your desk. If you don’t like displaying your family & spouse’s photo, try something like a nice potplant?
  • Splat Blue … Remember to eat healthy - skipping meals is NOT healthy!! Drink enough water. Most headaches are caused by dehydration!
  • Splat Blue … Smile at people (in traffic especially), even if they ignore you, you’ll still feel better!

Don’t ever wish for the time to pass quicker. Each moment makes up a tiny part of your life story; Make your story as interesting as you can!

Something Really Important…

Burning Computer Just a thought that I’m passing on. Remember to make regular backups of whatever it is you have on your PC. If you download music through iTunes, make sure to add them on your iPod so they’re safe. Also remember to backup all your photo’s, you e-mail address book if you don’t use a web based e-mail client.
Make sure you have backups of you financial records, budget, etc.
You might think that something has happened to my PC, but luckily nothing did. I was just recently made aware of the extreme inconvenience I might go through if I were to lose all of those. Even though I make backups of most of the stuff, I did slip up on the e-mail address book in Thunderbird & Outlook Express.
Also, some of my passwords are saved on Firefox, so I hardly enter them, and thus my memory might have gone a bit rusty on them. Firefox was so sweet to let you see you password; meaning you can remove the ******* and actually see the real password!! (Go to Tools > Options > Security: Click “Show Password” and you’ll be given a list of websites along with the username & password)
I suggest that you make a list of passwords that you use (whether its for Flickr, your hardly ever used mail account, or maybe an e-card site), you can make a list and keep it on a CD.
If your PC were to be stolen, or even crashed, you can always continue with your life as normal :P

Are your MSN buddies avoiding you?

MSN - FrustratedEver wondered if your friends blocked you on MSN? As you’d probably know, when someone blocks you on MSN Messenger, you cannot see it, instead that person just appears to be offline. I found a site where you can check whether they’re really offline, or if they just blocked you.

As you can see from the image below, you just enter the hotmail account, and then click “check”. You’ll get the status update immediately, and the nickname of the person too ;)

MSN Block Checker

I looove little gadgets like this, and though no one has blocked me, it was still fun to check out. Hope it helps someone ;)
PS. I haven’t figured out a way to IM them if they DID block you - don’t think you can do that. You can e-mail them however? LOL :P
