Explaining It All
So I am finally able to tell you why things are going up and down. The company that I work(ed) for was liquidated today. Its all still a bit unreal, but yes, I’m without a job as I’m sitting here. I have already lined up some interviews with recruitment agents, and someone I know has also offered me a job.I never thought it would come to this. I thought that these were the type of things you could see far ahead, and then still have time to search for another job, and all. Aparantly not. It hits like a Tsunami; hard and unexpected.
I’m OK though. I believe that the right opportunity will come along, and that it will work out for me. If I’m a bit absent from here, you know that I’m either at an interview or submitting my CV.

We all know that life has got its little ups and downs, and I believe I’m finding myself in a bit of a down at the moment. I will hang around, and try to keep you entertained though
I have found that no matter how tough a situation is, it is still what you make of it. I’m reading such a good book at the moment (Tuesdays with Morrie - a true story), and quoting it roughly the one character says that one should allow oneself to go through an emotion. Whether it be fear, hurt, grief, whatever. Feel that emotion, sob until you cannot sob any more, experience that emotion, and then detach yourself from it. You should say, this is fear I’m feeling, I know what it feels like, I have experienced it, but I’m not going to let it control me. Same with all the other negative emotions. There is no shame in being emotional, in fact it shows that you’re not merely breathing, but you’re alive.
I’ve also got such an amazing group of people in my life. People who are loving, encouraging, and who want me to be happy. I have so much to be thankful for!!
2 commentsTime Out
Hi there guys and girls.
I’m a bit tied up at the moment, and might not post for a while. I have to spend my time on something a bit more important, but hope to be back really soon. Unfortunately I cannot tell you what is going on yet, but will do so when the time is right.
In the meantime please pop-in every now and again, I’m going to miss you!
Take care
Tell Me You Say Stupid Things Too…
I had such an embarrassing experience yesterday at the bank. I was waiting to see a consultant, along with three other people. I don’t like talking to strangers like that. People usually make senseless small talk and I think its stupid. Anyway, to get back to my embarrassment. The girl next to me was probably in her late twenties, and seemed extremely impatient. After a while she asked me why one of the consultants didn’t see any clients. I answered her with a bit of a clueless expression on my face and a slight shrug, after which she told me that she had to get her cash passport sorted out, because she was going to visit her sister in South Korea in a few days’ time.
I asked a bit about her trip, and whether she was looking forward to it. Now since we were not waiting in a normal queue for the cashiers, but instead sitting, waiting for consultants (in the forex department), she probably thought I was traveling somewhere abroad as well. So she asked me “So what about you?”. In that moment I was totally clueless. Not knowing “What ABOUT me” she really wanted to know… It didn’t even occur to me that she meant I might be taking a trip overseas, and that she was merely inquiring as to where I would be going. After quickly retracing our conversation I started to talk about traveling, and told her of all my overseas trips. I saw that she looked at me funny, but didn’t realize that she was expecting a simple answer. Something like “Yes I’m going to Switzerland” would’ve been perfect. But NOOOOOO I had to go and tell her all about my travels. Where I’ve been, and why. She must’ve thought I was really lonely; talking to a stranger like that. (I’d become the person I always fear I will find myself standing next to.) Half way through I realized that she was actually referring to my reason for being in the queue. I almost stopped in the middle of my sentence, and then just ended it abruptly, telling her that, NO, I was not traveling anywhere.
I felt like such an idiot!!! Luckily shortly after that she was called to the next available consultant.
I hate when I say stupid things. I do it THIS extravagant too often (I think?), but when I do it, I do it well.
*sigh*….
10 commentsThe Facebook Frenzy (Or Conspiracy?)
Why is it that everyone is on Facebook except me? Its apparently become the 6th most popular site on the net - but why? Why is everyone suddenly so keen to meet up with old friends? There have been other similar sites which were never so popular. Obviously they weren’t the same as Facebook, but still. I don’t get it.
I saw a video about Facebook, and the dangers thereof. I still can’t tell whether its relatively safe to sign up, or if its really as dangerous as its notorious reputation has claimed.
In the end, is it really worth risking having your whole life exposed to marketing companies and giving up your privacy to total strangers; maybe even stalkers, all in the hope of meeting up with old (or new) friends?
11 commentsPigeon Noises

Why do pigeons make pigeon noises? I’m sure if you’re an orthinologist or you know how to google, you can figure that out.
An easy answer would be because they’re pigeons, and that’s what pigeons do.
I could google that now and give you the a clever answer too. However, I want to know why pigeons make those “koer” noises at night. In the middle of the night - like last night 12:30??
(Koer is an Afrikaans pigeon noise - by the way, do they make the same noise in the US? :P) .
Do they have a bad dream & talk in their sleep? It doesn’t sound as if they’re alarmed, so I doubt if it was to alarm fellow pigeons of a cat or something.
I’m really suspecting that pigeons, like humans, talk in their sleep.
Minds Behind Advertisements??
Who are the people who think up television commercials. Yeah I know they’re from advertising agencies. But what I’m wondering is who are they really. What type of people are they? Some adverts are really good. Personally I love the new MTN adverts - I know a lot of people despise them, because they don’t advertise the products or services offered, but I
think they’re pretty creative.
There are a couple of ads which I can think of now which are pretty lame. They don’t hold any connection with the products or services, and neither are they creative. They just don’t make sense. Help me out if you know the meaning of the Peroni (beer) advertisement? It has a kinda catchy tune, but that’s all. It doesn’t make much sense to me.
I’m just wondering where these advertisers get their ideas from. I seriously think some of them smoke pot before starting to work on a new project. Others are just so bland that I doubt a professional agency would want to admit to even working on it.
The worst of all this is that even the nonsensical bland adverts have to get approval from the board of directors. Television commercial are bloody expensive, so I’m guessing that when they review these adverts, they actually think they’re good. That its a good sales pitch, and obviously there sales are going to improve. If I was on a board like that, I’d want the general public, or at least the people who have been buying my products in the past, to understand the advert. And if they wouldn’t, at it should make them curious enough to try and find out what the big ‘hoo-ha’ is all about…
Makes sense? To me it makes perfect sense, but maybe I’m weird.
6 commentsDessert Pizza? (GROSS!!)
Dessert pizza’s are gross. The thought of it is disgusting. But if you start to think about it, it shouldn’t be any different than sweet pastries? Still pizza’s are meant to be savoury in my opinion. Who thought of dessert pizza’s anyway? Its a real thing, I kid you not - its on the menu’s of normal pizza places.
I was going to expand on the topic, but since I’m sick at home today, I don’t have the energy. I’m going right back to bed, where I will sleep, and (unfortunately) work. I still have a horrible sore throat, and my body is sore. I do have meds, but they make me so drowsy that I try not to take them in the middle of the day when I have to work.
Hope to write again soon. By the way, my font is almost done - I just have to do the .readme file, and then you can have it if you’d like!
Losing Winter Weight
Almost everyone I know has been, or are, at that place in their lives where they try to lose weight. Its winter, and we all know how easily the extra kilo’s gather with all the cozy snacks.
Its so much nicer to cuddle under the duvet, watching a DVD, with a cup of hot chocolate and some popcorn, instead or having a glass of water and celery sticks. Most people use the excuse that they use more energy to warm their bodies during winter.
This is a very convenient argument, and we’ve probably all said it to ourselves when we wanted to buy our favorite chocolate bar, or potato crisps, or pizza… and the list goes on. The problem is this: if your input is more than your output you will gain weight.
If you don’t exercise at all you’re burning very little calories. In turn you’re probably eating more than you’re burning.
A friend of mine recently told me that she started a new diet, and after three days she hadn’t lost any weight, so she quit. LOL. I just laughed at her, and told her that these things take time. The weight she wants to lose didn’t gather around her hips in just three days. She’s been building on that for nearly a year.
Little exercise is definitely better than none at all. You’re burning more calories than you would’ve done if you didn’t exercise.
Exercise doesn’t ONLY burn calories, it strengthens & tones your muscles, and one of the most important muscles being your heart. Cardio exercise does wonders, but I hate it. I hate the burning in my chest & the sweat and all that. I don’t mind stretching, and weight training so much, but cardio is a real drag for me.
I found a BMR Calculation which is quite helpful it tells you how many calories you burn just by being alive - doing no exercise.
Keeping in mind that exercise is essential to keep you healthy, thus saying that you shouldn’t just cut out calories and expect to feel better.
Eating exactly the same as you’re doing at the moment (given that you’re not gaining weight) and just doing (more) excercise should cause you to lose weight.
This doesn’t always work though. A lot of people struggle because their metabolisms are slow, or due to other medical reasons.
Speeding up your metabolism is a whole different story. Some people start their day with drinking warm water & lemon juice, others swear by a fiber rich diet. I think for each person the recipe is different. You have to find what works for you. You’re not likely to follow a eating program consisting of foods you don’t like. You have to find foods which you like, but are healthy at the same time. Same with exercise. Find a sport or exercise which appeals to you. You’re most likely to continue that in the long run. For myself I have running, but I love a cross trainer. For this very reason I will not join a gym. I find it more convenient to exercise at home, and given that I have a cross trainer, I know I will stick with my exercise program.
Its very important to make both your eating plan, and your exercise program a habit. This will ensure that your weight is steady. Its OK to have a chocolate bar every now and again. And its OK to eat out one a month or so. What is important is that it doesn’t become a habit.
5 commentsHere I Am!!
I spent part of the weekend @ the hospital again. Nothing too serious, and I wasn’t the patient either, but still not nice.
At least I had breakfast with a good friend on Saturday before going to the hospital. The breakfast was great. Except for the chats, the food was also great. I had a BBQ Bacon & Mushroom omelet at Maxi’s - you should really try it. It was YUM.
Other than that I’ve developed a sore throat / cold / flu. Don’t know where that came from since I’ve been taking my vitamins.
Yesterday I went home early because I felt awful. I slept the whole afternoon till 7pm, and went to bed again at 9pm. Which is why I didn’t write yesterday. Sorry.
I’ve also signed up with Pownce, so if you want an invite, just leave a comment. These invites are obviously not scarce, so I wouldn’t be surprised if no one wanted one. I’m indeed impressed with Pownce, and I have to agree with the general opinion, its a bit better than twitter. If you’re already a member on Pownce - add me as a friend!
Hope you’re all doing well. I’ll post again soon. Just wanted to let you know that I’m still here.
