Lost In Translation
A website which translates through different languages, and definitely proves how context is completely lost from one language to the next. I tested this with a simple phrase “My boss sucks” (suggested by a co-worker, not myself :D , and after translating through other languages and back to English, it came out as “My proprietor absorbs” – hehe.  Definitely worth a try.

Carpet Of Begonias In Brussels

Every two years people can admire the carpet of flowers on the Grand Place in Brussels . This year, 700,000 begonias form the largest tapestry of a Savonnerie carpet in the world: a tribute to the French presidency of the European Union.

Since 1971, it is the 16th carpet of flowers on the Grand Place in Brussels . In recent years, the flower carpet has become one of the biggest attractions of Brussels . This year, the flower carpet designed by floral architect Mark Schautteet is inspired by the tapestry of the French Savonnerie, which dates from the 17th century. 700,000 begonias form a colourfum motif on which appears the patron saint Saint-Michel and the iris of the Brussels Region. One hundred volunteers have brought flowers on the Grand Place. For the floral carpet of flowers to be perfect, the design is fully represented in size on a transparent plastic perforated to create a micro-humid climate which must keep flowers fresh and colorful. The official opening will be accompanied by music created specially for the occasion by the composer Gregory Dune.

I would even consider taking a holiday in Brussels just to see this amazing floral expo – if only the flights were cheaper!

Jackson Fever

All of a sudden it has taken the radio & tv stations by storm.  Its in the newspaper, people talk about it, and I’ve even received jokes about it less that 24hrs after he was reported dead.  Its all everyone can think of.  Michael Jackson, Michael Jackson, Michael Jackson!!!  Some people have even been fooled into thinking that he may still be alive, but thank you for clearing that up for us Hannah Lowen.  But honestly, I don’t care.  Jackson fever seems to be spreading faster than swine flu, and its effects are definitely worse.  People are behaving like complete morons!!!

I think its completely absurd, and maybe even a bit retarded that people are now, all of a sudden, idolizing this man, who they were ripping apart a few months back, because he’s claimed to be a child molester.

Because I didn’t know him personally, I cannot claim to be sure of any of this, neither can I say that he was an amazing person.  In my eyes, he was just another guy… Another person trying to make their way through life, wanting to be appreciated & loved.  Just a pity that he probably never experienced either of those.
