Weird (& Funny) Product Names

Its quite obvious that the companies that picked these names didn’t think about it twice, and most certainly did not consider the meaning it would have in other countries than their own!

Fruity Kleenex Design

I LOVE good packaging designs, and Kleenex fruity tissue box design is an excellent example of brilliant design.

I’d love to have one of these, pity I haven’t seen them in the shops yet! Aren’t they cute?

So Much More Than Just An Annoying Facebook Application!

Besides the fact that I think Facebook is an ingenious application for connecting people, I think the applications which can be added on top of it is an utter load of crap.  Its annoying, intrusive and could probably cost you your privacy!

I am so sick and tired of people inviting me to join causes and groups, and above all to join those stupid games such as Farmville, Fishville, Mafia Wars and who knows what else. It could still be justified if my unemployed friends were wasting their time on these senseless applications, but the people who invite me are actually employed. These are people with jobs, who waste their employees’ time & money, for what? To get scammed?

Don’t be fooled in thinking that these applications are harmless! In a recent article on MyDigitalLife also exposed that these third party application sell advertising and “money” (the game currency which lets you exchange real cash for digital currency, in order to buy nifty things for their farms for example).  You grant these application access to your personal information, which may be targeted for advertising purposes at a later stage!  If you’re alarmed at any of these facts, go and read the article mentioned, and make sure that you know exactly what you do when you grant third party applications access to your profile on Facebook.

Also, please think twice before you send that invitation to your friends!  Not everyone is willing to offer up their privacy, and it gets pretty annoying to “Ignore” tons of these games requests.

Paragon

For those of you who really need Roadside Assistance, Paragon Motor Club does offer their services at reasonable prices. They currently have a couple of special offers for as little as $8.50, which I can agree, is not a lot – but this obviously depends on what you get for your money. The $8.50 will include Auto Advantage Roadside plus Advantage Tire & Wheel Protection – though I am in South Africa, and can’t tell you if this is a good price. You tell me? :P

Lead Dogs

I started looking into this sales lead management website, purely out of interest for their name. I later discovered that the name was decided upon whilst they were having margerita’s, but its still quite fitting in my opinion :)

Since 1994, companies like Microsoft, Adobe, Shell and Orbitz have outsourced to The Lead Dogs to generate, manage and nurture sales leads that turn into revenue. The reasons why are simple: they are rabid about quality; they keep a careful eye on their campaigns; their reporting and technology integration is unmatched; and their vision of developing leads that aren’t yet ready for their sales organizations increases their marketing ROI.

If you need business-to-business marketing for your company, you should definitely pay attention, and at least visit the Lead Dogs website. You will find their high quality marketing not only valuable for your company, but essential.

Flights To Canada

Flights to Canada are now cheaper than ever. Whether you’ve always wanted to see majestic lakes, or if you just have to go to Canada for a business trip, you will find affordable plane tickets on the dial a flight website. They offer a special from March 19th to April 30th 2008 – flying from London to Toronto for only £293.

Canada offers a large variety of tourist attractions, from cosmopolitan cities such as Montreal and Toronto in the Southern parts, to the isolated Eskimo settlements around the icy shores of Hudson Bay.

There are thousands of lakes and rivers of the interior provide superb watersports and fishing, as well as the Atlantic & Pacific oceans. The mountain ranges, such as the Rocky Mountains, offer breathtaking scenery. Some of the best resorts are in the series of great National Parks which preserve the wildlife and forests of Canada. The Northern parts offer the beautiful wilderness, also in National Parks.

Personally I would love to go skiing in Canada. Though I’m not very adventurous, and I might end up falling my arse off, I still do want to try it one day.

Minds Behind Advertisements??

Who are the people who think up television commercials. Yeah I know they’re from advertising agencies. But what I’m wondering is who are they really. What type of people are they? Some adverts are really good. Personally I love the new MTN adverts – I know a lot of people despise them, because they don’t advertise the products or services offered, but IAdvertising Light - Billboard think they’re pretty creative.

There are a couple of ads which I can think of now which are pretty lame. They don’t hold any connection with the products or services, and neither are they creative. They just don’t make sense. Help me out if you know the meaning of the Peroni (beer) advertisement? It has a kinda catchy tune, but that’s all. It doesn’t make much sense to me.

I’m just wondering where these advertisers get their ideas from. I seriously think some of them smoke pot before starting to work on a new project. Others are just so bland that I doubt a professional agency would want to admit to even working on it.

The worst of all this is that even the nonsensical bland adverts have to get approval from the board of directors. Television commercial are bloody expensive, so I’m guessing that when they review these adverts, they actually think they’re good. That its a good sales pitch, and obviously there sales are going to improve. If I was on a board like that, I’d want the general public, or at least the people who have been buying my products in the past, to understand the advert. And if they wouldn’t, at it should make them curious enough to try and find out what the big ‘hoo-ha’ is all about…

Makes sense? To me it makes perfect sense, but maybe I’m weird.

Coca Cola Is Cool

This is such a cute advert – I absolutely LOVE it.
I’m not sure if its just in South Africa? Has anyone seen it outside of SA?
Yes, I know I don’t usually post video’s but this one is an exception – its only 32 seconds long, so won’t take too long to load. Hope you enjoy it!
