Protected: Going for October 2006

So here’s what’s new. If you normally get e-mails from me, and you haven’t in the past while, I’m really really sorry. Things at work have really taken over my time – even lunch times. Due to our office move I have to leave home earlier (to miss traffic), and I come home quite late. We moved into our new offices a month ago already (I can’t believe it!), and I suppose I have settled in. I already have a new routine: I leave home now @ 6:45am – Its not as good as 7:30am used to be, but at least its not winter anymore, so getting up is a bit easier. I’m suppose to have some photo’s of the office somewhere, so I’ll post them when I find them :P
Then, as you probably already know, I got my promotion!!! I’ve been appointed as QA Manager, which is something I have been working towards for the past couple of months. Though this hasn’t changed anything really, as I’ve been doing the tasks of a manager since March / April in any case. Its just good to get some recognition for it.
On October 5th we’re having our year end function – already, can you believe it?!?! I need to find a skirt somewhere – but with my fussiness its going to be hard :( I want a black silk knee length skirt – but somehow no one is stocking that at the moment, and I don’t really do the whole sewing scene…
At home things are a bit busier than normal – my sister & family are visiting from the US – they moved to Atlanta in Dec. 2005, and came for a 6 week holiday on the 1st of September. This holiday is almost over now, but hey – we still have a bit of time left.
With me and Jaco things are awesome too – we went away last weekend (just the two of us) to Watervalboven. We stayed there in a cabin on a trout farm, or lodge – whatever… Though we don’t do trouting, we did go for a 15km hike to a waterfall, which was pretty awesome. The water was clear, like it always is, and also FREEZING cold. I wasn’t brave enough to dip in, but Jaco managed to spend a full 5 seconds in the water – 4 diving in, and 1 second, almost walking on the water to get out. I’ve never seen someone get so cold… The whole weekend was just so relaxing – we didn’t have electricity (at least we had running water), so we ended up braaiing & snacking on fruit and stuff. I also have some photo’s of this, but its on my flash stick @ work.

Addition: Here are the photo’s of our hike!

Birthday Time

23 Red RosesI’m another YEAR older- I can’t believe how quickly time goes by. Just the other day I turned 21, now I’m 23!! Things seem to change so quickly. I don’t notice how much different my life is, until I take a step back, and analyze everything from a different angle. I’d say my has definitely improved over the past year, and though growth is sometimes painful, difficult situations do still help us grow. I’m a happier and more fulfilled person than what I was last year this time, and I suppose that makes the aging process a little bit more bearable. I have the most awesome boyfriend. I am so thankful for every moment that I spend with him. Sometimes I wish that time would just stand still when we are together, because it passes so quickly. I know I’m getting soppy, so I’ll go on and tell you about something else.

I got 23 red roses!!! How romantic is that?!?!
Soon I’ll post a pic of the roses – just have to take it first ;) Will do that soon though.

I spent my birthday eating cake until I had to lie down, and then I ate some more… Now that I’ve gained 2kg’s I will have to start exercising seriously, just a pity that its such a schlep in winter time.
I know the photo’s quality isn’t great, but at least you can see its roses, and they are red ;)

Gold Reef City!

On Friday the 5th of May I spent the WHOLE day in Gold Reef City, which is an amusement park in Johannesburg, South Africa. I haven't been to Gold Reef City since I was 14 probably – I can't even remember it, so it was looong ago. It was my bf's birthday on the 5th of May, so we decided to do something fun – just the 2 of us. And it was a huge load of fun. The have animals now too – which they didn't before they made all the major changes. But ofcourse you go there for the rides. I haven't been on the anaconda before, and the last time I went to Ratanga Junction (in Cape Town) the Cobra was 'closed for maintanance' —- as they so often are. Suppose it wasn't THAT bad back then – I got try out the Sling Shot THREE TIMES!!! This time Gold Reef City the Anaconda was working, and it was ALOT of fun – though not as scary as I had hoped :/ The Jozi Express was more frightning o_O Anyway, the Tower of Terror was 'closed for enhancements' so that sucked… We did go on the big wheel with the balloon, but I couldn't keep my eyes open – I just realized again how scared I am of hights.
Here ya go with the photo's:
