March 5th, 2010 — Holiday, Photo
Good News … Well for me
I’m going on holiday today!! How amazing is that?! I cannot wait anymore! I didn’t really have a holiday in December so I am completely exhausted, worn out, and just plain sick of the city rushed routine. I cannot wait to walk in the shallow waves, and dig my toes into the sand!!
Saturday morning my view will look something like this…. (we’re staying at the same place – same room than last year!)

So if you don’t hear from me for the next couple of days (I know this is not something strange), but at least it will be for a good reason now!
I’ll be back soon, but hopefully not too soon!!

This weekend was so good, even though I left my laptop’s power supply at the office, and spent only 1hr online on Friday evening! Pity I couldn’t blog, but it was a good weekend with NO time online
We went for a “hike” to the Wonderboom Fort, cave & waterfall yesterday. Can’t really be classified as a proper hike since the paths are “built” all the way up the mountain, though it was still good exercise for those of us who don’t hike that often. We have been to the fort a couple of times before, but this was the first time we went to the cave, waterfall and the fort.

Here is the full album if you’re interested.

Part of a commercial pilot’s license is night flying hours, and that’s what we did last Saturday night. I got some nice photo’s of Pretoria CBD, Menlyn and the highways… The photo’s don’t do the views justice though. Its simply indescribable. We flew over my parents’ house too, and since its close to impossible to recognize a house from the air in the night, they flickered the outside lights for us to be able to spot them – it was so amazing to know that its their little light flickering among the thousand of other lights.

I’ve been longing to put up a proper post about this, but time has just not allowed me yet! As you may, or may not know, my husband is a pilot, currently still private whilst building his hours to complete his commercial license. For this reason, we are fortunate enough to fly very often, and to places where I have never been, and probably never would have been if it wasn’t for this!
This past weekend we went flying twice, and though I am getting used to all the strange movements which are associated with a “small” aircraft, it is still one of the most amazing experiences!!
I will be posting photo’s here more often now of places where we go, and what we see there.
Hope you enjoy

As promised here is another set of photos – not sure where they were taken, but I am suspecting it may have been taken in the Rhino & Lion Nature Reserve, where you can go and view the Lions being fed.

March 18th, 2009 — Photo, Useful Tips
I’ve been a DeviantART fan for a long time, I joined about a year ago, but only recently started uploading my own images.
I admire good photography, and I might even be a bit envious of those with a natural talent for photography AND a good camera. In the past I had a a couple of lucky-good shots, but they were few and far between. And though my photo’s are not professional yet, I can honestly admit that I’ve improved
A while back I decided that its not worth being envious without taking action. And so I signed up for a newsletter on Digital Photography Secrets by David Peterson. I’ve since started looking at photography in a complete different light – excuse the pun. I’ve learnt that the most important thing for a good photographer is to LOOK at things differently. Apart from that I’ve also experimented with angles & lighting etc.
If you’re interested, that newsletter is free, and for me it really was worthwhile reading. It might look like some other bogus, or money-making sites when you open it at first, but its not
If you’d like to see my photo’s on DeviantART, feel free to look at my gallery: Dizzy-Dee@DeviantART. All my photo’s are also available as prints, and though I haven’t sold anything yet, I’m hoping to one day be famous

The anual Lemon Festival also known as “Fête du Citron” in Menton, a town located on the coast of the French-Italian border, built these amazing statues made out of citrus fruits. Made completely out of LEMONS,ORANGES, GRAPEFRUITS, AND LIMES. This is quite something even on photo’s, I can’t imagine what it must be like in real life – imagine the flavours in the air?!

February 4th, 2008 — About Me, Dizzy Dee, Hartbeespoortdam, News, Photo, wedding
Hey Everyone!!! Wow, its Monday again – I can’t believe how quickly time is going by, and yet still I feel that its sometimes dragging along. Specially when I remind myself that I still have 33 days left before getting married. I suppose its not that long afterall though
I had a great weekend, and I feel so well rested. I had a afternoon nap on Saturday and Sunday, and I LIVE for naps sometimes. It was just so lovely to be able to doze off in the middle of the day
Sleeping wasn’t ALL I did, so I’ll share some photo’s as proof
We had lunch near the Hartbeespoortdam and I tried out my photography skills.

[Though this pic wasn't taken by me, but by my fiance]

[A pic taken by myself]

[And another pic taken by myself]

[The demo table setting for the wedding... still lacking some stuff, and not with the nice cutlery & crockery]
For those of you who are not spying on me, you can view the full set on my Flickr account, just add me as a friend, I’ll do the same, and then you’ll be able to view my pics.

Just some pics I took, close to my hometown in the Freestate, over the past weekend.
It rained a lot lately, and everything is just sooo green!!!
