Actually leeches are great for medicinal purposes. One is actually bred specifically for medicinal purposes (Hirudo medicinalis I think is its name). The first blood thinners which (which are used in heart surgery) were derived from Hirudo medicinalis. They're also extremely useful when reattaching bits of the body that have been pulled off (such as a finger somebody's accidentally sliced off with a tablesaw). Normally the blood pools in the end of the finger because arteries reattach more quickly than veins, and the pooling blood makes healing more difficult. Medicinal leeches take care of the pooling blood and allow people to heal more quickly and more easily.

As far as "detoxing"? Yeeahh... not really, no. It's about as detoxifying as donating to your local blood bank, and they need the blood more. But hirudo medecinalis is a little champion of the medical world. :D

Wow, that has to be one of the most disturbing things I've ever heard. I mean, Demi Moore is unmistakably beautiful, but she's a little less attractive when I picture her laying on her back, covered in leeches! Ugh! Celebs do the craziest things!

How does one train a leech?? Do they go to leech medical school? This is disgusting, and I think also very sad that Demi will go to such lengths to keep her skin pulled tight. Yuck!
