I heard on TV today that gorilla’s are a zoo’s biggest attraction – aparantly like a Da Vinci painting for an art gallery – its what brings in the big bucks. I don’t know about you, but I have absolutely NO liking for gorilla. They’re intriguing in a weird way, yes, but I find then a bit disgusting even. I suppose its also cause I grew up in a country where its not funny to know what a gorilla looks like and acts like.
I don’t know what it would be like for tourists though – I think they have gorilla’s pretty much in each zoo all over the world? But why the liking in them? Do people find themselves strangely amused by the fact that gorilla’s are in an eerie way very close to humans? I don’t know. But if I go to the zoo, I MUCH rather see the animals less like humans – I love going to the aviary, and of course I also love the koala’s and kangaroos. Hippo’s are also quite cool – their skins are sooo freaky, but still, not something that you see SO up close in the wild ever. Gorilla’s on the other hand… Well, I gues they’re just not my scene.
