Living The American Dream

When people talk about “The American Dream”, I guess they each have their own image of this. Each person has a different way they would want their lives to turn out. If I ever had to opportunity to get a Green Card, I wouldn’t think twice. Living abroad is something I’ve wanted to do for as long as I can remember. I would love to ‘setup camp’ on the other side of the ocean. I’ve often dreamt of owning a flat at the top of a huge apartment building in the middle of New York. Or living on the country side somewhere close to a ‘creek’ – in South Africa we only have ‘spruitjies’, which I suppose nothing other than a creek, but still, you cannot have a creek in South Africa. LOL.

Some of my family are already living in the United States, and they have Green Cards, but there’s not really a way I can get there except maybe through the Green Card lottery. They take online applications, and that is free, but then later on you have to pay x amount for administration costs etc. I suppose it is worthwhile, but I don’t know how trustworthy a system like that really is. I’ve not really heard any success stories, but still, I’m willing to give it a go. Now let me seriously go and consider this…
