Depends on the crime, I suppose. This is not necessarily an “either or” choice, is it? But I’d think that being locked up and innocent is far worse, regardless of the situation.

2. Will he be found guilty in July?, and – of course…

Being in jail innocently must be worse.

The free guilty man must have his conscience and bad karma ultimately destroy him.

Honestly its too subjective to answer. How do you define innocent? If the person is in corrections they have been found guilty based on evidence damning thier cases. Where do you draw the line? How can you say a person is innocent after they are imprisoned?

Despite the media and the Hollywood drama for crime and courts, most criminal behavior doesn’t even reach the courtroom and the chances of innocent people being mistaken placed in jail are very low. Its its rarity that causes every occurance of it to hit the media.

OJ was found innocent. Does that mean he is? What if he was found guilty and locked away? Where is the 100% assuance of his innocence/guilt? 8 times out of 10 criminal behavior is repeated when placed back into society. The goal of imprisonment is corrections and it just doesn’t realisticly perform that task through statistics.

You also have to take in account when a supposed innocent person is incarcertated their lives (and family members) are effected. By placing crimanals back on the street you are opening a can of worms to have them to effect the lives (and families) of multiple people besides thier own.

Better to let the guilty go free. You can’t undue their crime, and there is a chance, however small, that they will not repeat their wrongs. But locking up the innocent steals years away for no reason, and likewise cannot be undone. Let the guilty go free, and prevent the next crime; you don’t have this option when the innocent are imprisoned.

I tend to agree with you Battlerocker. I can’t imagine the incredible loss someone suffers. The loss of life. While being in jail for an offence they didn’t commit. That’s why I’m not a judge see?
