Only In Africa; Part #1

I have decided to do a couple of posts under the title of “Only in Africa”. I have quite a collection of photographs & funny facts to share.
This being the first post, here are two photos which shows a hippo on someone’s patio, sleeping with his head on the wicker couch. Now this would not happen just anywhere in South Africa, contrary to the belief of some. We are a bit more civilized in the cities, and don’t have hippos walking around. Though I don’t know the origin of these photos they were most likely taken on a lodge, or a game farm.

Mine was just a bit chewy but very sweet. Unless you have a friend who is a game warden you will not get to eat it. It is protected. Maybe it was chewy due to age or gender. A baby would be very good I think. I am told the cows are better than the bulls.

Down here in Africa hippopotamuses kill hundreds of people per year. This one has been trained as guard dog to keep the natives off the property.
