Garden Gadget!

I am not usually keen on garden work, and I am VERY thankful that we have gardening services at the moment!

However, if you combine gardening services with a gadget, you have my attention! I would almost go so far as to watch my plants grow, just to be able to cut them again with the funky Garden Groom gadget!!

It looks a bit like one of those hand held Hoover vacuum cleaners. Trims, shreds AND collects the clippings, so you can either dispose or use this as compost!  I’m sure this will save a lot of time for people who normally spend time gardening, especially for only $100, plus you can even order online!

Health Concerns For Computer Slaves

I’ve been working in front of computer for 8 hours a day – sometimes more, for the past few years. I realize that the monitor isn’t doing my eyes any good, but what can I do? Its my job! I got glasses a while back – specifically to relieve the glare from my monitor, but now I get a headache from the glasses on my nose.

I can wear sunglasses without a problem, but they don’t have those grip things on my nose. Oh well, maybe I should’ve tried a different type of frame – maybe I will try to change that at a later stage…  I might even try ZenniOptical, as I hear they have affordable prescription glasses available.

These days there are so many jobs which require you to spend half your life in front of a computer monitor, that its not even funny to see so many people wearing eyeglasses.

Computer jobs also affect your back, i.e. the way you sit in front of your computer could seriously damage your back, neck and shoulders, and visibly affect your posture. I know that its a problem for me, and though I try to keep it in mind, I still catch myself sitting with my shoulders slumped forward. Slouching becomes such a habit, that trying to correct your posture may even be painful!!

I’ve seen some exercises in a local newspaper, which was so ridiculously hillarious – there’s no WAY that I would do that in the office, in front of my co-workers!!  Still, they had a point – excercise is extremely important, and could really help in correcting your posture, or keeping you from falling into a habit of slouching.

I also realize that there’s a horde more health concerns for the computer bound generation, but I hardly have the time and the space to write about it now… :)   I’ll have to do a sequel!!

Webhosting Advice

Choosing a web host doesn’t have to be as tricky as it sounds. Whenever people hear the words web host they think they need a professional to tell them what to do. Whether you’re wanting a host for your personal website, blog, or even business, you can fairly easily find a good host online by just searching for one. There’s no need to pay an excessive amount of money. There are various web hosting articles on the internet where you can read up on some of the options you have.

“If you run a business online, you want to ensure that it can run 24/7 – or you will lose out on potential profits or worse, jeopardize your whole business. The fact that the internet has this amazing capability of being there to serve anyone at any time is probably why business owners started utilizing this incredible platform in the first place.

If you want a personal website that will advertise your portfolio or services, you wouldn’t want your potential client to see a huge error page when he or she tries to access the your website via the address you provided in your name card. This could portay you as someone who is cheap and unreliable, potentially destroying any chance of getting business at all.”

The trick is, to tell a good web host from a bad one, and for most people, that’s not very easy, hence they feel that they are compelled to seek the help of a professional. Before you pay hundreds of dollars for advice which you’re not even sure you can trust, make sure to read up enough about web hosting, so that you can make a well-informed decision before tying yourself to a 12/24 month contract of unreliable hosting.

Paragon

For those of you who really need Roadside Assistance, Paragon Motor Club does offer their services at reasonable prices. They currently have a couple of special offers for as little as $8.50, which I can agree, is not a lot – but this obviously depends on what you get for your money. The $8.50 will include Auto Advantage Roadside plus Advantage Tire & Wheel Protection – though I am in South Africa, and can’t tell you if this is a good price. You tell me? :P

Need Refinancing?

Living in SA, its pretty hard to be without a motor vehicle. For me, it would be close to impossible to continue working if I didn’t have a car. I suppose in the US its pretty much the same. However, while I was in the UK I never owned a car, and never needed one. The public transport is just so good, that you really don’t need your own means of transport.

Unfortunately we have to face the reality of living in larger countries, with public transport that isn’t developed as well as we’d like.

If you need to refinance your car, have a look at RateGenius. Their customers save an average of $60 or more off of their current monthly car payment, and on average reduce their interest rate by 3.5%.

They have an automated system for quick turn-around of refinance applications, check it out Auto Refinance on their site.

They promise to find the best rate, term, and payment to fit your lifestyle. Their customers may enjoy up to 60 days before their first payment. And best of all, their refinancing service is FREE!

BuzzFuse – Traffic For Your Blog?

I recently signed up with Buzzfuse, a blog traffic service, free as most of the others.
The sign up process was hassle free, and reasonably simple. Their interface is OK – I would’nt give it a too high score though – maybe 6/10?

signed up for a basic account, which is free, but there are also paid packages, which offer a few more services.
I’m always trying out new ways to enhance the traffic flow to my blog, and I’ve had some great success with social bookmarking sites.

StumbleUpon is a huge favourite of mine, but I’m willing to give BuzzFuse a try, and I will let you know what the outcome is.

Get Paid For Visitors On Your Blog!

Without having your visitors click on any ads, you can now make money from your blog! With Net Audio Ads you can monetize your blog, by just adding a 5 second advertisement, and nothing else.If you become an affiliate before the 1st of February, it is FREE, and you get paid for ads on your site, ads that are refered to by you personally, and ads served on websites of those that your direct referrals refer.

The best of this service is that you don’t have to do much to earn your money! You can enhance your revenue stream by just placing the ads on your blog or website, and voila!

NetAudioAds[Pay-Per-Play] advertising is an advertising channel that is set to take the internet by storm.
Because of the size and scope of this deal (backed by one of the BIG 5 search engines), Pay-Per-Play (PPP) advertising will become a world wide business media event.

For those of you who are already making money from blogging, take a look at this idea. They offer you money without any work, and I know it sounds fishy – lol. I myself write paid blog posts, and am not too keen on believing that people are willing to pay for just placing an ad on your site.

I guess we still have to look this proposition through thoroughly, as I wouldn’t want audio ads on my blog, harrassing my readers the whole time. I suppose these ‘5 second ads’ will be on auto play, which is something I absolutely hate. And if they plan to regulate the content themselves, I’m going to seriously rethink as well.

But there is still a chance that this might be worthwhile, and its definitely worth looking into ;)

Eight Seconds & Counting…

RodeoYou might be asking “What chick in her right mind can write a post about rodeo?”, but here I am! I never thought I would be able to tolerate the sport – never mind enjoy it! That was before I started reading a book, which revolved around a couple of which the man was a rodeo champ. I loved that book so much, and you might recall my post about it!

This book got me honestly interested in this bizarre sport for which people risk their lives, and I’ve started watching this on TV. Its simply amazing how, after their few seconds of sheer adrenaline, they graciously slide off the bull, and then stand next to the rampaging beast as if its something completely normal.

For those of you who are passionate about rodeo, you can find National Rodeo Finals tickets online for quite a reasonable price. I would love to go see a real live rodeo show, but even if I get the tickets for a bargain, I’d still have to pay for my plane tickets, accomodation etc. Which makes it really ridiculously expensive. But. If I have the change, while touring the US, I would definitely want to see it with my own two eyes.
