On January 12th, while we were all blissfully oblivious and entangled in our own lives, the people in Haiti were struck with the worst earthquake in two hundred years. So strange to imagine that its real, and though I heard about it on the news, the reality didn’t kick in until I saw photos at Boston.com.
Some of these pictures are a little too close to the bone, but I think its a good wake-up call all the same. Not that there is anything we could do to prepare ourselves for such a tragedy. However it made me realize again that we have to appreciate our loved ones, spend time with them and be thankful for the special times we share. You never know when its the last time you see that person.

I wasn’t in the Haiti earthquake but I flew into Chile 6 hours before the 8.8 earthquake there. Although the Chilean infrastructure and architecture are much more stable than what is in Haiti, it was still a very shocking experience.
